    The Royal Revue is the flagship event of the Waikato Queer Arts Festival. It’s a one-night spectacular showcasing queer performance at its most polished, powerful, and unapologetic.

    This year, The Royal Revue brought together some of the most celebrated queens and queer performers from across Aotearoa alongside standout local talent.

    THE LINEUP

    RITA MENU

    The singer, dancer and seamstress from Kirikiriroa, placed 7th on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under S3, and was the Winner of the 2022 Kita & Anita Drag Wars.

    KWEEN KONG

    Kween Kong is a choreographer, performer, and community leader from South Auckland, now living in Australia. She was Runner Up on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under S2, a Finalist on RuPaul’s Drag Race Global Allstars, was the first Pasifika performer to compete on Drag Race, and the first Drag Queen to be nominated for a Logie Award, in 2023.

    KITA MEAN

    Kita is the Queen of Camp and co-owns NZ’s longest-operating drag cabaret show the Caluzzi Cabaret in Auckland. She was the first ever winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, the co-founder and producer of Warner Bros series House of Drag, and is the author of her memoir Life in Lashes.

    SPANKIE JACKZON

    Spankie is an icon to NZ drag, and hails from Palmerston North in the North Island. She was crowned the winner of both RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under S2, and House of Drag S2. She is also the founder of Health & Wellbeing space The Jackzon Effect.

    ANITA WIGL’IT

    Anita is well known as RuPaul’s Drag Race standout, two-time Miss Congeniality winner on both Down Under S1, Canada vs The World S1, and a Snatch Game winner. She’s also the other co-owner of Caluzzi Cabaret and host of House of Drag, was titled Vancouver’s Next Top Drag Superstar and Drag Entertainer of the Year in 2013, and was nominated in 2021 for NZ Television Personality of the Year.

    CRUXIFIX JUNE

    Cruxifix is the Grand Madame of drag in Kirikiriroa, and is a co-founder of Twisted Coven Events responsible for the Waikato’s increasingly visible drag community and performances spaces. Twisted Coven hosts an evening of drag and drama every month at Biddy Mulligan’s in Hamilton.

    CARMEN COMPOSED

    Based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Carmen is a visual artist, a camp cabaret performer, and a sultry seamstress with a flair for upcycled couture.

    ZEPHENA

    Hailing from the Otorohanga, Zephena is drag queen and proud transgender artist often incorporating her trans identity into performances and artistry. Known to Hamilton audiences for her appearances with Twisted Coven at Biddy Mulligans’, and representation at events like Trans Pride at Phoenix, and the 2026 Drag Queen Megashow.

    CHRYS ANTHEMUM

    Chrys Anthemum is a Waikato-based multidisciplinary artist and teacher. Their expertise ranges from theatre and visual arts to music and performance, which brings emotional intelligence to their drag artistry, crafting audience experiences that linger long after the curtain falls.
